Veteran Ghanaian actress Mavis Yeboah, who is known as Maame Gyanwaa, shared how she almost lost her life while filming a scene inside a coffin.

In a video posted on X and reported by GhanaNkomo on September 8, 2026, she talked about how the scene was set in a cemetery, and she played the role of a wife who had been murdered.

She said the filming happened around midnight, and her co-star, Mr Beautiful, took his role seriously by crying and delaying opening the coffin.

She explained that she felt very cold and eventually fainted. ‘I wouldn’t be like Florence Obinim’ – Agradaa on not leaving husband for another woman

“I was placed in a casket while acting. It is by the grace of God that I am still alive. This happened when Prof. Atta-Mills passed on.

“By the time it got to my scene, it was almost 12:00 AM at the cemetery. They fixed my costume and had even finished digging the grave. So I was placed in the coffin. Mr Beautiful, who was my husband, was supposed to open the coffin in a brief moment, but instead, he was crying, and it took a while. So while lying in the coffin, I felt the place was very cold, and I passed out,” she said.

She further disclosed that after shooting the cemetery scenes, all the recorded videos were eventually corrupted and could not be played, forcing the crew to consult cemetery authorities and pay homage before reshooting.

“The director and crew were at a standstill while Mr Beautiful was crying, and I was lying in the coffin, fully closed. All I could hear was people calling my name from afar.

“Could you imagine that after everything and the scenes we shot in the cemetery, we got to the hotel and all the recorded videos were corrupted? We couldn’t play any of the scenes. We had to go and shoot again. We had to go see the people in charge of the cemetery and pay homage before we shot again.”

The veteran actress also recounted how she nearly got electrocuted while filming another scene.

“There was a scene where Mr Beautiful had to push me into a pool. So before we started that scene, I turned my back and prayed. Even the director shouted at me, asking why I had turned my back when they were ready.

“Before they could say ‘action,’ the camera and lighting equipment fell into the water. So, assuming I was already in the pool, I would have been electrocuted,” she added.
