Sarkodie and Stonebwoy Clash Online as Dancehall Star Accuses Rapper of Hypocrisy

Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, two of Ghana’s top artists, are currently engaged in a lively online back-and-forth after Sarkodie dropped some cryptic posts that many believe are directed at Stonebwoy.

In recent weeks, Sarkodie has sparked conversation with his posts, notably after Stonebwoy’s highly-anticipated BhimFest concert at the OVO Arena Wembley in London.

Shortly after Stonebwoy’s show, Sarkodie shared a video on Instagram featuring an amputee attempting to kick someone. While he didn’t name Stonebwoy specifically, fans and music industry insiders took it as a not-so-subtle jab at the dancehall star.

More recently, on September 7, 2026, Sarkodie took to X to express that artists should not let their fanbase’s support cloud their judgment.

Sarkodie followed up with a post on X cautioning artistes not to be swayed by fan support. He argued that some fans thrive on fueling feuds for personal gain, pretending to defend their favourites while not genuinely caring about them.

“To the artistes: just because a fan sh**s on another brand to elevate you doesn’t mean they love you more. Be careful about entertaining that energy.

“We’re in an era where some people love engagement for their own personal gain. They may look like they’re fighting for you, but they genuinely don’t give AF about you,” The Sarkcess Music boss wrote.

He continued, “A true SarkNation member shouldn’t be consumed by what another brand is doing. Focus on the brand you love. No hate. No bitterness. No unnecessary competition. You don’t have to tear someone else down to prove your loyalty to Sarkodie.”

Stonebwoy, however, was unimpressed. In a recent post on September 8, 2026, he accused Sarkodie of hypocrisy, recounting that he personally called to congratulate him after his Rapperholic show in the UK.

He also noted that he did not receive the same energy from the rapper after his OVO show in the UK, adding that it was only after the concert that Sarkodie began mocking him online with cryptic videos.

“After your RAH show in the UK, I called you the next day to congratulate you, and we spoke for 10 minutes+. After my OVO — you posted the second video on social media… Whatever message you meant to send across, only you can explain.

“After I made that factual tweet, I still went ahead and sent you a message because you were posting some cryptic stuff. You called back immediately. I missed it, but I called you back after, and we spoke for more than an hour about industry, behaviours, and perspectives,” Stonebwoy said.

Stonebwoy said Sarkodie made it clear during their conversation that no artiste should be “forced” to uphold principles, and that musicians should play along with whatever benefits them.

“You were very clear about how no artiste could be ‘forced’ to uphold any form of principle. That, literally, in our industry, artistes must play along so far as it benefits them, and it cannot matter how, because we all care about different things,” he added.

This development has since reignited debates and discussions among fans and industry stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Sarkodie is yet to respond to the current reactions from Stonebwoy.
