GFA Petitions CAF For Extra 500 Tickets For Ghana Fans Stranded In Bouaké
The passion of Ghanaian supporters has once again shown in Bouaké, but this time it has created a ticketing headache.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has petitioned the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for an additional 500 tickets for Ghanaian fans who travelled to Côte d’Ivoire for Thursday’s AFCON 2027 qualifier against the Elephants.

About 500 Black Stars supporters made the trip across the border to back the team at the Stade de la Paix, only to be left without entry after the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) confirmed the Group C clash is sold out.

The GFA says it received its official ticket allocation during Wednesday’s Match Coordination Meeting (MCM), but the allocation was insufficient to cover the large number of Ghanaian fans already in the city.
In a formal letter, the association has requested an additional block of about 500 tickets to allow the stranded supporters into the stadium. The issue has also been raised with the Match Commissioner, who has assured the GFA of his assistance.
“The GFA remains committed to ensuring that Ghanaian supporters who have made the trip to Bouaké are given the opportunity to cheer the Black Stars,” the association said.
The match is Ghana’s opener for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. After years of disappointment, including missing the 2025 edition in Morocco, Carlos Queiroz’s side will be desperate for a strong start away to their biggest rivals.
