Ghana Police arrest suspects in connection with murder of Nana Yaw Kyere

Ghana Police Service has apprehended three individuals linked to the suspected kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who went missing on September 22, 2026.

The suspects have been named as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai. As reported by the police, the arrests were made following inquiries by the Missing Persons Unit after Nana Yaw Kyere was last seen leaving his home in Kokomlemle, Accra, on September 19, driving his Honda Civic, and did not return.

Preliminary findings revealed that the victim was allegedly lured to Philip Tefe’s residence in Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.

Authorities stated that both suspects later admitted their roles in the crime. According to their statements, Philip Tefe assaulted Nana Yaw Kyere during a confrontation, inflicting injuries with a metallic object.

Following the attack, the victim was moved to a separate room, where he was left alone and ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Investigators later determined that the body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20.

It is alleged that the remains were disposed of in a bush and set on fire. The partially charred body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21. Nana Yaw Kyere’s mother and an uncle identified the remains at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.

The Police have also retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for allegedly dishonestly receiving the phone.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated over the alleged disposal of the victim’s body. His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which investigators believe was used to transport the body, has also been impounded.

The three suspects are currently in Police custody and are expected to be put before the court as investigations continue. The Police said efforts are also underway to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the incident.
