Sack Kurt Okraku – MP for Effia Isaac Boamah-Nyarko
The Member of Parliament for Effia, Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, has advocated for the immediate dismissal of Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), along with a complete overhaul of the nation’s football administration following the Black Stars’ disappointing 4-2 loss to The Gambia.
Boamah-Nyarko sees this defeat as a clear indication of the decline in Ghanaian football. He argues for a total reformation of the current structures to revive the competitive spirit and regain the public’s trust in the national team.
In an appearance on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, September 30, he emphasized that the leadership of the GFA should be held accountable for the team’s ongoing struggles, rather than allowing the status quo to persist. He stressed the necessity for a thorough evaluation of the administration and developmental frameworks that underpin football in the country.

“We have to dissolve the GFA. We have to dissolve the Ministry. The Minister of Youth and Sports has to lose his job. In fact, the entire structure of Ghana football has to be broken down and rebuilt, irrespective of whether we would be banned or not.
“He should go. No brainer. He should go. They should allow us to go back and see how we built the GFA, where you had sports at the district level, at the regional level, at the national level, the local league finding its place and all of that,” he added.
The MP said Ghana’s football development system must be rebuilt from the grassroots, with greater attention to structures at the district, regional and national levels.
His comments follow the Black Stars’ 4-2 defeat to The Gambia in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29.
The defeat leaves Ghana without a win in their opening two Group C matches, having earlier suffered a 2-0 loss to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké.
Ghana initially appeared to be in control after Ernest Nuamah converted a penalty in the 27th minute before Felix Afena-Gyan doubled the lead six minutes later with a free-kick.
