Republic Closes Case Against Former NSB Boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene Over GH¢49.1m Alleged Theft

The Republic has wrapped up its case against Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), his wife Angela Adjei Boateng, and their company, Advantage Solutions Limited. They are accused of allegedly stealing GH¢49.1 million.

Deputy Attorney-General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai shared an overview of the proceedings on social media, detailing how the prosecution’s case was presented in court on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Step 1: The Allegations

Dr. Srem-Sai stated that the prosecution claims Adu-Boahene employed cunning methods to funnel GH¢49.1 million from a State agency into the bank account of a private company, allegedly with help from his wife and their business.

The trio faces multiple charges, including theft, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the Republic, all of which they have denied.

Step 2: Witness Testimonies

The prosecution called four witnesses to support its case.

The first witness was the couple’s family driver, who testified about running money errands for them and transporting significant sums from banks to various associates.

The second witness, the Head of Finance from the implicated State agency, explained the agency’s financial protocols and the process of acquiring cybersecurity defense systems. He revealed to the court that names on three cheques did not match the account that ultimately received the funds, and confirmed that the agency did not place any such order. The invoice number mentioned by Adu-Boahene was linked to entirely different equipment procured on a separate date.

Step 3: Tracing the Funds

The third witness, who managed the personal and business finances of Adu-Boahene and his wife, detailed how the alleged stolen funds were used through their company and distributed among family and associates. This witness also provided information about the accused’s banking activities, investments, and transactions related to property development.

Step 4: Evidence from EOCO

The fourth and final witness, EOCO investigator Frank Marshall Cromwell, completed his cross-examination before the Republic concluded its case. He presented various documents, including the cheques, deposit slips, company incorporation papers, account statements, property purchase documents, and records pertaining to Adu-Boahene’s salary and assets.

The court has instructed the accused to submit any claims of no case to answer by September 25, 2026. The Republic will have 14 days to respond once served.

The case has been postponed until November 5, 2026.
