Parliament’s Sports Committee To Invite GFA And Sports Minister Over Black Stars Struggles
Parliament’s Youth, Sports and Culture Committee has announced plans to invite the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Minister for Sports and Recreation to explain the worrying decline of the Black Stars.
The Chairman of the Committee, Ernest Henry Norgbey, disclosed this in an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM following Ghana’s embarrassing 4-2 home defeat to The Gambia in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
“We plan to invite the GFA and the Minister to interrogate what is actually happening to Ghana football, especially the Black Stars,” Norgbey stated.

Ghana’s recent form has been a major concern for football fans across the country. The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, the first time in 21 years, and have now started the 2027 AFCON qualifiers with two consecutive defeats; a 2-0 loss to Cote d’Ivoire and a 4-2 collapse against Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The latest defeat has deepened frustrations, with fans questioning coaching decisions, player selection, team commitment and the overall direction of Ghana football.
According to Norgbey, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Parliament cannot remain silent while the nation’s most loved team continues to struggle. He said the Committee wants to understand the root causes of the poor performances, from management issues, technical challenges, player discipline, to financial support.
