Ahafo Ano South West DCE Abubakar Sedik Dies After Brief Illness

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West District in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has sadly passed away after a brief illness.

Hon. Sedik died on the evening of Sunday, September 20, 2026. This unfortunate event followed his participation in various engagements with the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, in Kumasi.

On that day, Hon. Sedik was part of a group of DCEs who met with the minister at the Kumasi Kejetia Phase II project site to discuss developments related to the project. Afterward, they attended a stakeholders’ meeting with trader unions at the Kumasi Central Market, which concluded around 5:00 p.m. Later, he and some colleagues went to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council for another meeting with the minister.

It was after these significant engagements that news broke about the sudden passing of Hon. Sedik, which has led to an outpouring of grief throughout the Ahafo Ano South West District, as well as the entire Ashanti Region and the local government sector. Colleagues and residents alike are mourning the loss of such a dedicated public servant.

In a statement about his untimely death, Hon. Sedik’s passing was described as a profound loss not only to his family but also to the people of Ahafo Ano South West, his colleagues, the Ashanti Region, and the government as a whole.
