Speaking to Nigerian-Ghanaian based comedian Parrot Mouth, Pete Edochie said Rawlings was his close friend before his demise.
According to him, the last time he came to Ghana, he met with Rawlings and they had an extensive discussion. The former President even promised to visit him in Nigeria, a promise that could not be fulfilled before his death in 2020.
“I would love to visit the grave of the late Jerry John Rawlings and pay some respect,” he said.

The Nollywood icon also expressed concern about two Ghanaian personalities who are currently battling health challenges. He disclosed that he intends to visit actor Emmanuel Armah and socialite Moesha Boduong.
“I also want to visit Emmanuel Armah and Moesha Boduong who are sick. The last time Moesha called me, she told me she had a stroke,” he revealed.
Pete Edochie arrived in Ghana today as activities kick off for the Pete Edochie Legacy Project, a Pan-African initiative themed “Celebrating the African Legend: The Lion That Needs Not to Roar.”
The project is aimed at celebrating his life, career and lasting contribution to African film, culture and storytelling. For over four decades, Chief Edochie has been one of the most respected faces in African cinema, starring in classics like Things Fall Apart, Igodo, and countless Nollywood movies that shaped the industry.
The Accra edition of the Legacy Project will feature film screenings, conversations, tributes from industry players, and cultural exhibitions in honour of the legendary actor.
