EOCO reacts to GH¢50 million Baffour Awuah bail reports
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has refuted claims circulating in the media regarding the bail status of Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
In response to a report suggesting that the MP had been granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties on October 2, 2026, EOCO labeled the information as “fake” and urged the public to “disregard the information.”
This statement aligns with remarks made by Baffour Awuah’s lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, who also rejected the bail rumors. Speaking on Adom FM on the same day, Atta Akyea confirmed that Baffour Awuah remains in EOCO custody.
“It is not true that he has been granted bail,” he said.
According to him, he had received information that EOCO plans to keep his client in custody and later present him before the court that issued the arrest warrant for the court to determine his bail.
“What I’m even hearing is that they want to further detain him and take him to the court that granted the arrest warrant for it to grant him bail instead,” he disclosed.

Atta Akyea expressed frustration over the situation, arguing that his client is not wanted by the court and therefore does not need to be taken before a court to be granted bail.
He said it was EOCO that had invited Baffour Awuah to assist with an ongoing investigation and, therefore, the agency should be responsible for granting him bail.
The Manhyia South MP had voluntarily reported to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) at about 10 am to assist with investigations into alleged economic and organised crimes.
The investigation involves allegations of criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences, among other matters.
