EOCO releases statement on Baffour Awuah’s arrest
EOCO, the Economic and Organised Crime Office, has called on the public to avoid speculation and hasty judgments regarding Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who is currently in custody to aid in ongoing investigations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 1, 2026, EOCO explained that Baffour Awuah, the Senior Partner at Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners and the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, voluntarily appeared at EOCO’s office around 10 a.m. to cooperate with investigators.
He was subsequently arrested as the agency began its investigative procedures, EOCO noted.
The inquiries relate to serious allegations, including criminal conspiracy, financial losses to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, and tax-related offenses among other issues.
EOCO emphasized that the investigation is still in progress and urged the public to refrain from making assumptions about anyone’s guilt until the investigative and judicial processes are fully concluded.

“The public is therefore urged to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual,” the agency said.
EOCO said it would continue to pursue all relevant lines of inquiry and examine the available evidence while ensuring that all persons involved are afforded their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.
The agency also assured the public that the investigations would be conducted “professionally, independently and in accordance with due process.”
EOCO said it would provide further information when appropriate and legally permissible.
