24-Year-Old Tricycle Rider Jailed 3 Months for Biting Community Police Assistant in Ashanti Region
A 24-year-old tricycle rider, identified as Abdul Aziz, has been sentenced to three months in prison by the Nkawie circuit court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti region. He received this sentence for biting a Community Police Assistant (CPA) during an altercation.
Aziz pleaded guilty to the charge of negligently causing harm and was convicted based on his admission.
During the court proceedings, Police Inspector Kwaku Frimpong detailed the events that led to the conviction. He explained that on September 3, 2026, around 8:40 am, officers from the Nkawie Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) were conducting a routine patrol to ensure safety in Nkawie. While on duty, they intercepted Aziz, who was operating a tricycle with the registration number M-25-A-3722.

Upon conducting a thorough inspection, the officers found that Aziz lacked a valid license and other necessary documents. Consequently, CPA Alhassan Seidu was instructed to escort him to the police office for further action. However, on their way, Aziz took a different route, prompting the CPA to redirect him towards the station. Instead of complying, Aziz became aggressive and attacked the CPA, resulting in a physical struggle between them.
During the confrontation, Aziz bit the CPA on the chest, leading the officer to call for assistance. Local youths rushed to help and managed to subdue Aziz until he could be arrested.
In his caution statement, Aziz acknowledged his wrongdoing. Following further investigations, he was formally charged and brought before the court, where he ultimately faced justice for his actions.
