Sarkodie Claims Rapperholic Is Bigger Than A Concert.

Sarkodie Claims Rapperholic Is Bigger Than A Concert.

Rapperholic is no longer just a concert; it is an economic engine. That is the message Sarkodie sent after a successful Rapperholic Kumasi on October 24, 2026.

Sarkodie Claims Rapperholic Is Bigger Than A Concert.

The multiple award-winning rapper took to his socials to break down the real value of Ghana’s biggest rap concert, and his statement is a direct lesson to government, private sector, and those who think entertainment is just noise.

Rapperholic is bigger than a concert! It stimulates economic activity across Kumasi, Accra and the wider Ghanaian economy through tourism, hospitality, transportation, food, fashion, media, advertising, employment and the creative supply chain. The economic value of this concert extends far beyond ticket sales. It includes visitor spending, revenue for local businesses, temporary jobs created, suppliers paid and the future tourism and commercial opportunities generated by the event. To the government and private sector, the opportunity is to build an ecosystem where Ghanaian entertainment generates measurable economic value, supports businesses, creates jobs and attracts visitors. Let’s invest in our creative economy. The potential goes far beyond the stage. 🇬🇭 #RapperholicKumasi26

For years, creatives have tried to explain this. Sarkodie has finally put numbers to the feeling.

When Rapperholic happens in Kumasi:

1. Tourism & Hospitality: People travel from Accra, Takoradi, Tamale, and even outside Ghana. Hotels around Santasi, Ahodwo, and KNUST get fully booked. Airbnb prices double.

2. Transport: Trotro, taxis, Uber, Bolt, and intercity buses (VIP, Yutong) cash out. Drivers work overnight.

3. Food & Drinks: From kelewele sellers outside the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to restaurants, pubs, and shisha spots — everyone sells.

4. Fashion: Tailors, designers, sneaker sellers, thrift vendors all get orders. “What are you wearing to Rapperholic?” is an economic question.

5. Jobs & Supply Chain: Stage designers, sound engineers, light technicians, bouncers, MCs, DJs, photographers, videographers, content creators, caterers, printing presses for tickets and banners; over 500 direct and indirect jobs in one weekend.

This is the creative economy the World Bank defines as jobs, exports, and GDP from creativity. This is what STMA and Sekondi-Takoradi are trying to build with its new arts and crafts marketing strategy.

Sarkodie’s point is simple: Stop seeing concerts as entertainment. Start seeing them as economic policy.
