“He Has Created Enemies For Himself” – Odartey Lamptey Slams Kurt Okraku’s Leadership
Former Ghana forward Odartey Lamptey has delivered a strong critique of Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku, saying the FA boss has created enemies for himself and that is now affecting Ghana football.
Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, the former Black Stars and Aston Villa star did not hold back on his assessment of the current administration.
“I love Kurt, but he has created enemies for himself and they want his downfall. Those around him are not helping him. Until Kurt realizes he has to change many things, things will continue to go against him. Everyone is complaining,” Lamptey said.

He added: “When you create enemies for yourself, it affects the work you are doing. That is what is happening to Ghana Football now.”

Lamptey’s comments come at a time when Ghana football is under intense scrutiny following the Black Stars’ poor run of form. The senior national team failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, suffered an early exit from the 2026 World Cup in the Round of 32, and have started the 2027 AFCON qualifiers with two straight defeats to Cote d’Ivoire and Gambia.
Pressure has been mounting on Kurt Okraku, who is serving his second term as GFA President after being re-elected in 2023. While his administration has been praised for improving youth football, the Women’s Premier League and infrastructure support for clubs, critics have pointed to alleged divisiveness, poor communication, and a perceived lack of unity in the football fraternity.
