Beasts of No Nation’ Star Strika Reportedly Sentenced To 1 Year and 3 Months in prison.
Young Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, popularly known as Strika, has reportedly been sentenced to 1 year and 3 months imprisonment following his conviction for the theft of metal railings from the Kwashieman pedestrian footbridge in Accra.
According to circulating reports, the actor appeared before an Accra court this week after he was apprehended by residents at the Kwashieman footbridge in late August 2026.

Video footage from August 29, which went viral on social media, showed residents confronting Strika while he was allegedly dismantling safety railings from the bridge to sell as scrap metal. A police officer was later reported to have arrived at the scene.
Initial online reports claimed he had been sentenced to 7 years. That was later contradicted by an update from his former caretaker, Official Gunshot GH, who said after a direct phone conversation that Strika told him he had been given a 1-year sentence and was to be transferred to Nsawam Prison on Monday, September 14, 2026.

According to sources, the news was shared by his former caretaker Official Gunshot GH after a phone conversation with Strika himself. In the call, Strika reportedly said: “Father, I have been jailed. I went to court and was given a 1-year sentence. They were supposed to transfer me to prison, but I have been told it will be on Monday. I will be taken to the Nsawam prison.”
The development was also shared by actress Ama K. Abebrese, who starred as Mother in the 2015 Netflix film Beasts of No Nation. She posted a 2014 behind-the-scenes photo from the film’s set in Ghana, showing cast, crew and young actors including Strika in a red shirt. In her caption she noted that for many of the young actors it was their first time on a movie set and that the film would go on to become Netflix’s first original movie acquisition.

Strika rose to international prominence in 2015 for his role as Strika in Cary Fukunaga’s war drama Beasts of No Nation, alongside Idris Elba and Abraham Attah.
