87-Year-Old Man Jailed 20 Years For Defilement Of 9-Year-Old Girl

An 87-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 9-year-old girl.

 

 

According to a press release from the Ghana Police Service, the elderly man was arrested, investigated, and subsequently put before court where he was found guilty of the offence.

 

The court, presided over by a Circuit Court judge, handed him a 20-year custodial sentence to serve as a deterrent to others.

 

 

The Police in the statement reiterated their commitment to protecting children and ensuring that all perpetrators of sexual offences against minors face the full rigours of the law.

They also urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and report any form of child abuse to the nearest police station.
