‘Beasts of No Nation’ Star Strika Sentenced To 7 Years Imprisonment.
Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, popularly known as Strika, has reportedly been sentenced to seven years imprisonment by an Accra court for vandalizing and stealing metal railings from the Kwashieman pedestrian footbridge.
According to reports circulating online, the former child star was convicted after he was caught removing metal components from the public footbridge at Kwashieman in Accra, allegedly to sell as scrap.

The sentencing follows an incident that went viral on August 29, 2026. A video widely shared on social media showed Strika being confronted by residents at the Kwashieman footbridge after he was allegedly spotted dismantling the safety railings. Residents who spotted the actor allegedly removing the metal components confronted him at the scene before a police officer arrived and accompanied him for investigations.

Authorities had initially not provided an official statement on the matter, with early reports noting that details remained limited on whether formal charges had been filed.

The alleged theft sparked mixed reactions across the country. Some said Strika’s actions, if proven, are punishable by law and should go through due process. Others called for compassion, pointing to the actor’s difficult life after fame.
Strika rose to international prominence in 2015 after starring alongside Idris Elba in Cary Fukunaga’s Netflix war drama ‘Beasts of No Nation’, where he played a child soldier. The role earned him global recognition as one of Ghana’s breakout young talents.

However, life after the film has been marked by publicized struggles. Reports over the years have described periods of homelessness and financial hardship.
In April 2026, a video of Strika working as a security guard at a shopping mall in Accra resurfaced online, reigniting conversations about the welfare of child stars after early success.
Questions have also long been raised about the reported $30,000 payment linked to his role in Beasts of No Nation and what became of the earnings.
As of now, the Ghana Police Service and the court have not yet released an official detailed statement on the conviction and sentencing. This is a developing story.
