In a post on his Facebook page Monday, September 21, 2026, Hon. Nelson wrote:
“As Regional Minister, I commend Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah for his continued commitment to organising this important annual event to commemorate the legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and inspire a new generation with his ideals.”

More Than a Birthday
This year’s festival, held under the theme “Nkrumah @117: Celebrating His Enduring Legacy – Africa Must Unite or Perish,” was more than a celebration. It was the annual Journey to Nkrofulb a pilgrimage to the birthplace of Ghana’s first President.
The 2026 edition drew a powerful line-up of national leaders, Pan-African voices and family. Among those present were NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, renowned Pan-Africanist Prof. P.L.O. Lumumba, Samia Nkrumah, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and Hon. Joseph Nelson himself.

Hon. Buah, who is the Chief Convener of NkrumahFest, used the platform to link Nkrumah’s love for the land to today’s fight against illegal mining, calling on all Ghanaians to join government in the fight against galamsey and environmental degradation.

Music, Unity and Legacy
According to Hon. Nelson, the celebration featured the grand musical concert of NkrumahFest 2026, bringing together thousands from across the Western Region.

In his appreciation message, the Regional Minister thanked the good people of Ellembelle:
“I also extend my sincere appreciation to the good people of Ellembelle and all constituents for their massive support and participation, which contributed greatly to the success of this year’s NkrumahFest.”
As Hon. Buah reminded the gathering in Nkroful, Nkrumah’s authority “never rested in his title” but in his sacrifice for Africa; building not for the next election, but for the next century with projects like Akosombo Dam, Tema Harbour and KNUST.

For the Western Region, NkrumahFest continues to be a cultural anchor and a civic lesson. As Hon. Nelson concluded:
“May the enduring legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah continue to inspire us to build a united, prosperous and self-reliant Ghana.”
