Salma Mumin Breaks Silence on Dating Chief of Staff Julius Debrah

Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Salma Mumin has firmly denied rumors suggesting a romantic connection with Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, calling the claims utterly false.

The speculation started buzzing on social media in 2025 after Afia Schwarzenegger claimed Salma was involved with Debrah. These allegations came to light amid conversations regarding the Chief of Staff’s future within the NDC, sparking a significant online response.

Known for her bold opinions on social and political matters, Afia Schwarzenegger took the opportunity to criticize Julius Debrah while addressing the situation. Her comments ignited a larger discussion, with the rumored relationship intertwining with ongoing political debates on various platforms.

In an interview with Nikki Samonas on Joy Prime on September 11, 2026, Salma addressed the allegations directly, stating that she has never met Julius Debrah and has no prior encounters with him.

“Recently, Afia Schwarzenegger came out mentioning the name of Julius Debrah as my boyfriend. I’ve never seen the man before, I’ve never met him before, I’ve never run into him anywhere in my entire life but I’m being tagged that I’m dating him,” she said.

Salma explained that such an allegation could have had serious consequences if she had been in a committed relationship with another person, particularly if she had been unable to publicly address the claim.

According to her, she previously preferred to remain silent whenever she faced allegations or criticism, believing that refusing to engage was the best way to handle such situations.

However, she said her willingness to now speak about the matter reflects a change in her confidence.

“Back then, I wouldn’t sit here to talk about it, but look at me talking about it and that’s how confident I have been. I still believe silence is not golden. I’ve debunked it, I’m not dating Julius Debrah. I’ve never seen him before,” Salma noted.

The actress acknowledged that her denial may not convince everyone, noting that some people could still choose to believe the allegations against her.

She nevertheless urged people facing similar claims to speak up and defend themselves, regardless of whether others ultimately accept their side of the story.
